In October 2017, we ran our first collaborative research session where we looked at the theme of 'women's spaces' in Oxford. We had a really good time and we learned a lot!

First we came up with a list of women's spaces in Oxford which we wanted to research further, and then everyone chose which theme they were most interested in. This created a few teams of twos and threes and people then merrily dived headlong into the endless rabbit hole also known as the Internet to find out more about: Godstow Abbey, Women's Institutes, the Women's Centre on Cowley Road, Lilith Magazine, Reclaim the Night, and BK Luwo.

An hour and a bit later, and we shared our findings with each other. Most of us felt like the time had gone by really quickly as we were all finding out completely new things in a relaxed, sociable environment. In plain words, it was loads of fun!

We had written things up in shared documents so that we could carry on working on them later, and some of us later went to the Oxfordshire History Centre to look at some original documents connected to some of the places we looked at. Most of the content ended up being published on our Facebook and Twitter feeds. We will also add it all onto this page, with the aim of building a kind of a directory of women's history in Oxford.
